Reka Robinson
Radio is probably the reason why most people know me. Starting at Howard University, radio has been my life for over 16 years. For the last 7 years, I was the lead host of the morning show on Power 99.1 called the Just me Reka Show. Being a woman in radio, with my name stamped so heavily on a radio show, is kind of a big deal. Because unfortunately, you won’t find many women or Black women for that matter, leading a radio morning show.
Outside of talking/posting about my #curlyhair – workouts, Champ & Thor #dogmom (pitbulls) and discussing self-love… I am a certified NLP Life Coach aka the Single Girls Life Coach. I am also the Founder of Single You Academy & the host of Single You the Podcast.
In September of 2020, after 18 years in radio, I stepped down from my full time morning show job— to focus on what God is calling me to do in this season. I was called to guide women who need to hear that singleness is not a punishment and you are worthy regardless of your relationship status.

How to discover your worth
What is Single You Academy? An online resource, coaching program, and community for single women.
What I do? I help the frustrated loyal woman who is TIRED of giving 2nd chances stop the cycle of trusting he will change by helping her learn how to set and KEEP boundaries with herself and men.
Who are my clients? Women who have their life together, career wise. You’re financially stable but you’re constantly spending money and time on him. Trying to build him up. You’re steady letting him walk all over you. And you’re left wondering why that is? You’re constantly thinking ‘how can I have my professional life together but not my love life?’
The mission of Single You Academy? To be a light for women; to encourage; to be a positive example; to share my stories and the stories of other women to weaken the stigma of ‘single’ and to strengthen the understanding of boundaries, self-worth, self-love, and what makes a healthy relationship vs. an unhealthy relationship.
Long-term goal? Decrease the following numbers; every minute, approximately 20 people are the victims of physical abuse by an intimate partner in the United States. On average, husbands or boyfriends are responsible for the murders of more than three women each day. Every month, the National Domestic Violence Hotline receives over 27,000 calls for help. And each year, over 10 million Americans are subjected to psychological and physical abuse from people they love and trust the most.
Why did I become a Life Coach and create Single You Academy? In my journey from abuse to discovering my worth, I learned that I get to decide how men treat me, plus having a man doesn’t determine my happiness. I do. And when you learn, you teach!

So I began to share my trials and tribulations about my journey with men in 2018 on my radio show. The shame I had about my “abusive ex” and the embarrassment I had about the “$10,000 boyfriend” I got over to encourage women!
I became vulnerable to my listeners after a solo trip I took to Mexico. Because of the courage I displayed, I found that there is always someone who has gone through what you’ve gone through, and if you know that, you will feel less alone in this world. Loneliness is really about a lack of propose, connection and inspiration. The more I share my story, the more I can be a bridge to that connection for women.
